Cala d'Or belongs to the municipality of Santanyí. The main centres of the resort are Cala d'Or with the adjacent areas of Cala Egos and Cala Ferrera.

The rugged cliffy coast is interrupted by many small fine sandy bays like Cala Serena, Cala Ferrera, Cala Esmeralda, the biggest beach of the place, Cala Gran, furthermore the name-giving Cala d'Or, Cala d'es Forti, Cala Galera and Cala Egos. A small road regularly takes holidaymakers to the various beaches during the summer. The town centre is very busy in the summer months, but not as crowded as other tourist centres on Mallorca. There are a large number of shops, bars and restaurants in the pedestrianised area. The Porto Cari marina in Cala Llonga bay offers moorings and shelter from storms for exclusive yachts and charter boats alike, as well as a large number of restaurants and bars.

Many of the buildings in Cala d'Or are painted white, in keeping with Mediterranean tradition, and their low-rise design is in keeping with the cubic Ibiza style. This is no coincidence, as the Ibizan architect Josep Costa Ferrer, who planned the village in the early 1930s, drew inspiration from his homeland.

The next larger town inland is Santanyí. The original fishing port of Portopetro is a five-minute drive away. The double bay of Cala Mondragó, located in a nature reserve not far away, is recommended for an extended day at the beach.

The beautifully designed golf course Vall D'Or is only about 10 minutes drive from our property.
